#145880 - Vinculum VDIP with hardware SPI |
Hi folks.
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience of using a Vinculum VDIP with hardware SPI. I know Bert Van Den Berg has interfaced one to SPI, ( http://www.8052.com/forum/read.phtml?id=142924 ) so I hope he reads this and can help! My problem is this... The VDIP data sheet ( http://www.vinculum.com/documents..._VDIP1.pdf ) talks about sending 11 bits via SPI to the VDIP data in (diagrams on page 9), but I don't understand how this could be done. As far as I can see hardware SPI (on the AT89C51ED2 that I'm using) is sent in 8-bit bytes, by moving the data to SPDAT. Does that mean the only way of addressing the VDIP is to bit-bang it (kind of defeats the object)? Every time I think I understand how to 'SPI' something else confuses the hell out of me. Any help would be much appreciated. |
