Frequency wise, it is pretty accurate, amplitude wise, not very, but you can calibrate it. Don't expect to get perfect square waves - the inputs are usually capacitively coupled so you get parallogram waves rather than square waves displayed. Great for decoding infrared remote control signals and audio band signals. Sampling a square wave at 44 kHz? Depending on the frequency of said square wave, you'll end up with a nice sine wave as the anti-aliasing filter does its thing. At the very least, you'll end up with rounded edges. A sound card isn't the right tool for looking at square waves. -a |
