#113946 - not my cup of tea Responding to: ???'s previous message |
What's looking more likely is that I'll chuck the ADB keypad back in the junk bin and build one from regular keyboard switches. This is, after all, a no-billable time project.
The keycap issue is another problem I don't have a way to rectify. If I use switches like those on a typical keyboard, I can get a used keyboard with spare caps in good condition for about $3. That doesn't exceed my threshold for a no-dollar project. My old keypad is still working 95% of the time ... not bad for 30 years' use. The devices you suggest have popped up on eBay, and I suppose I could use one, except that paying >$10 for an obsolete 805x variant makes my skin crawl. It was at $10 when I last looked. I'm not even sure that my UniSite will program the thing. I guess I'll check before deciding whether to bid or not. RE |
