#111048 - Search! Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I recently did a search of the web and came up with quite a few hits for bluetooth modules. Unfortunately, they're not cheap for 1's and 2's at around USD$99 each. You can buy a lot of cable for that kind of money. Parallax has a module, digikey have a module, a spin off of TDK have a module. As for connecting a usb-> serial to a usb->bluetooth dongle - good luck! It won't work as they're no host controller present. I opened my usb->bluetooth dongle and found a chip by CSR http://www.csr.com/home.php which has a serial port in it along with a 16 bit cpu and some spare i/o. All you need to do is flash some new code into it and hopefully the dongle manufacturer has left some pads for you to connect to. The chip is BGA so soldering some wires onto it is near impossible! If anyone has experience with the development tools for the CSR chip, I'd be interested in knowing if the standard usb dongle code does bluetooth to serial as well. |
