#108802 - other, free tools Responding to: ???'s previous message |
As I said, Keil may be too complicated for a newbie requiring simple tools. I know Keil is recommended as the best tool for '51 but what applies for professional developer in C might not be the best choice for newbies trying to write something simple in asm.
The demotoolchains from other IDE providers will probably be similarly targeted, hence the newbie will be similarly confused. There are a couple of free yet useful alternatives; the disadvantage of being simple turns here to advantage. Assembler: asem51 or Metalink asm51. I don't know for the former but the latter produces straighforwardly .hex output, no linking etc. needed. Both are very transparent, easy to use; just follow the manual which is provided for both. Simulator: jsim editor ("IDE", if you like): search through this forum, some of them mentioned in this thread. Jan Waclawek |
