Varistors are commonly used to suppress spikes on 230V mains, but an 8052 doesn't run off 230V AC. A transzorb on the 5V or 3.3V rail may be what you want. You may also need zeners or transzorbs on the input lines to the micro to sink ESD spikes. Varistors aren't much use at suppressing ESD because they are too slow. |
