#100448 - thanks so far Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Thank you all for your suggestions. As someone asked, yes I did
look at the examples - I'm just very new to working in ASM. I grew up on the basic stamp, which really limits what you should learn. For the one guy who replied that I should be doing this myself in reference to opening serial communications, I did. Thats how I came up with those register values, I'd simply like someone to "double-check" it. I'm not even asking what the correct values should be, I'm just asking for a "looks good for that part" or "your off." One thing that I did see thanks to Anders point this out, was that the uC doesn't read txt. Again, this is my basic stamp 2 knowledge kicking me in the ass. I didn't even think about ascii output - at least this would explain why it was moving around at what appeared to be randomness. The application outputting the data is one that I wrote. It reads the standard CSV format for laser shows and seperates the coordinates. I will modify it first thing tomorrow to output binary values instead of the txt as it does now. I do appreciate any and all suggestions, but I ask that you must understand I'm new to doing this, which is why I asked for help. I have several books on the 8051, but they never covered any of this -- although if I want to make some LEDs flash I'm good. lol |
