| There were U.S. IC-packaging plants in Indonesia and Pakistan back in the very early '80's.  Indonesia is reputed to have some of the most advanced high-tech manufacturing facilities, not to mention state-of-the-art infrastructure, e.g. fiber-optic telecom/internet connection throughout the major urban centers, etc, much better than what's available here in the U.S, in addition to a better education system than other Asian manufacturing centers.  
 I'd have guessed that wages were considerably higher in Indonesia than in the PRC. Is that not the case? RE |
