No artifact at all. Just a consequence of circuits having resistance and capacitance.
It was just that older chip technologies had so high steady-state current consumption that you didn't notice the effect of capacitances. The effect was clearly there, but wasn't important to care much about. Edit: Of course the design of the transistors and how they are connected affects how much the transistor stage will consume energy in relation to the effect from capacitances/resistances. Todays output stages don't wildly short-circuits like some older generations did - energy (and maximum speed without smoke) is too important factors now. |
