I've seen it used with (slow) 8085's, so it's clearly possible. I'd watch, and carefully, the timing requirements, though, as the i8755 was of rather a slow technology. It was, along with Intel's RAM/IO/timer (8155/56) chips, in a number of app's back in the early '80's.
