These people are trying to be "helpful" (sic) to potential customers who already know what a current transformer is, and might be "scared" of some new-fangled technology.
 But this just adds to the confusion, as we now can't tell whether "current transformer" is being used to mean a real transformer (and, therefore, AC only), or is being used "generically" to mean any current-sensing device that happens to look somewhat like a true current transformer. :-(  |
