The 8748/49 were cerdip's and EPROM-based, hence, field-programmable, and there might even have been some OTP's, though I never encountered them either. The question is, whether the 802x's ROM can be read. I've had success reading out several 8042-s (the original PC keyboard controller, a slightly tweaked version of 8048) using my favourite Elnec gear. They were of several manufacturers, but I don't remember whether there was a genuine Intel one among them. I've tried also to read out an Intel 8742 (this one *was* OTP), but no success - however it might had been fried before I tried to read it (been taken from a scrapped computer of unknown past). Once the content is read out, the rest is best handled using Jeff Post's d48 disassembler (on these pages). JW  |
