If we wanted to have a weekend challenge to write the fastest version of some little program, what would be the best way to define "fast"? Maybe just oscillator periods on a standard old 12-clocker, as defined in Table 7 of "the bible"???
Another wrinkle on the same question ... what would "fast" mean for an algorithm whose speed depended on the input data? I guess we'd have to define a set of test data for measurement purposes? -- Russ |
