Many of the newbies already have a working 8255. Telling them it's wrong is a non-sequitur to them. In these cases, they have the 8255 on their PCB. It already works in one mode, but they have been told to use it in a different mode, or perhaps to do a specific thing. Often, from what I've observed, they don't even need to change the setup. They just want to know how to do the thing about which they asked. Telling them the 8255 is WRONG is what's wrong. Even implying it is a mistake. It's not wrong, though it may not be best in all cases.
