There is a big market for selling replacements for parts that have been discontinued. These are not new designs, and many customers don't want to have to go back and re-design an existing product.

It also allows a small company to penetrate very large accounts. Big companies who would normally not consider doing business with me for new designs are happy to buy my replacement parts.
