#121246 - What happens if this resistor blows? |
Hello Forum
I am posting here a schematic of a very simple Triac circuit which is being used in this case to run an AC motor. The problem I am having is that in couple of circuits the motor ran for about 30 sec and then the opto-traic and 51 Ohm resistor just blew and went up in smoke. When I checked the circuit, 330 Ohm resistor was not connected properly. I am just trying to find out what purpose 330 Ohm resistor has here, what will happen if that resistor is short or blown? The opto-traics top was completely blown so there must be high current passing through it, but from where? Please comment. Much Obliged Kaz |
