Dear J,
With 89C2051's costing less than US$1.00 why not use a second 89C2051 for its UART and connect it to your main micro with 2 lines for communications between the two micros. I have some simple C-code that will enable the two micros to communicate. You apparently already know C so adding a second 89C2051 should not be a big problem for you. You also pick up some extra I/O lines this way. Perhaps drive the LCD with the second micro and save your UART on the main micro for PC comms. Cheers, Bert |
