I think that "Eagle"-marked 52-legged transient suppressor in the router just did it's job fine :-)
(Sorry I couldn't resist) In case of direct lightning stroke either primary or secondary the energy is just too high for any reasonable measure/circuit/part to take it up. Then the outcome depends basically on luck where the discharge takes place - I have read that after a storm a TV with burns on it started functioning OK after a single fuse replacement... (sadly, usually the opposite is true). From his posts I think Mehdi knows what to do to properly protect a telecom equipment and he was not considering it for this circuit as this is (I think) going to be some sort of a tester, not to be connected to the line permanently. Then it's the cost/performance balancing act, what to include in it, isn't it. Jan Waclawek |
