Neil, I took what you wrote about Franklin and added what I have seen/heard.
Old Franklin was the US version of Keil (Keil and Franklin had some type of falling out) - I do not know what, but can guess it was the same as later with Raisonance. Right after Keil there was a Franklin, the origin of which I do not know (very early Raisonance) it was horrible (if I recall correctly - I may be a few % off it used 47% more code than Keil). Then some Franklim is/was Raisonance. (Raisonance sued Franklin eventually in order to get paid for all copies sold). Current Franklin who knows?? Just did a google on "franklin compiler" and got this joke: "Development Tools: Click here for the Industry Standard development tools that made Franklin Software the standard in 8051 development."
