Are you using an 8051 or similar micro for this display task ? If so, is there a reason you are using a CRT for your display ? i.e. size, brightness, or existing hardware. If you have some flexibility you could look into the LCD or VFD graphic modules. These are much less demanding. If you must use a CRT you need to decide on the interface standard. i.e. composite video, NTSC video, RGB, VGA ect. The rastorization of a CRT image is going to give your micro a real workout. There may not be any time available for your micro do decide what needs to be displayed. You may want to build a dedicated controller for the rasterization function.
