To what do you wish to interface the file I/O routines? MS-DOS? Or do you have a customer OS that does file reads and writes? Typically, the C f---- routines make calls to the operating system or BIOS. That's important to know.

I'd suggest the P.J. Plaugher book on the ANSI C Library. It includes source code.
