#2371 - Again: TCP/IP - Ethernet.
First, I would like to say thanks again to Jay C., Peter Dannegger and Allen P. Drummond for their help in my project.

But what brings me here today is a friend's question. Can we put 805x to handle ethernet ?
I'm not talking about those RS232/RS485 <-> Ethernet bridges, it's more like every device has its own ethernet chip, i.e. a node in the network.

There's an not-so-old post by Olaf Cichewicz (how is your GPIB ?:) ) with a list of products, ideas, etcs (the url is: http://8052.com/forum/rea...;top=1795), but i guess it's lacking of something vital: real 8052 experience, as most examples are for PIC/AVR/68k.
So here it is:
Anyone has *ever* done (or tried) this ?
It's worth the cost/benefit ?
Any embbeded-ethernet chip is better suited to 805x than the others?
There is anything simple like an UART (TX, RX, interrupt) to interface with ethernet ? (hope, the last one to die)
Will it drain too much resources that nothing will left to your main stuff, so you have to use a 2th processor ?

But, please, note that here the idea isn't do a "home-made" TCP stack. Using Steve's words, i'll not *do* an LCD just to save some bucks, at least in my opinion the all-in-one-already-done is a better solution.

I really would like to hear your thougths, and sorry about my bad english.

Regards,
Bruno Jessen
