I would use a bridge chip. The cables mentioned here http://www.8052.com/forum/read/182763 contain the bridge chip in a ready-to-use assembly - just plug onto the board and go! Available with bare wires - to solder direct to the board - or 0.1" header (among other options). They can also supply power to the board!
