I have made and using that programer Steve is referring to.

Download it from ATMEL' site and make it.

One precaution is that run it only in DOS mode, never in Windows(any).

This is because windows does not easily allow you to play with the ports thru C commands in dos.

The software for the atmel programer is written in Microsoft C version 6.o compiled. I converted it into turbo C++ to so that it could compile for and modification purposes.

I have been using it for over a year and it never gave me any trouble.
