Because you aren't writing to your current display page.
No you don't have to refesh it.
My Pascal source shows the structure of what you need to do in assembler.
The display drivers for the 8255 are more complicated than an equivalent memory mapped driver not easier ! You need three primitives writedat, write com and write char.
