Will this be linear ? A real NPN transistor is going to draw a variable base current from your r2r ladder ! They DO NOT like variable loads ! You need a low impedance buffer amp first to isolate the DAC from the transistor. Your buffer can be another transistor though. You need to present a fixed, low load to the DAC.
