Igor,
I am using KSC Pascal and have not yet had the time to 'play with' your Turbo51, but I shall. Programmers in 'c' will argue that it produces more compact code than Pascal and that may be true. In an age where an 8051 variant can do 200MIPs and even flash memory is so cheap, who cares about compact code when the end game is to produce a working product! Recently I have had cause to have an example program written in 'c' converted to Pascal. The expert programmer and mathematician with a PhD, employed to perform this task was not surprised at the simplicity of the Pascal source which did the same job. Pascal is an elegant HIGH LEVEL language designed to teach good programming practice, while 'c' is considered by most to be cryptic and it was borne from a desire to play games faster. Even the name itself, 'c', because it was written in 'B'; How inspiring! With the availability of a good, cheap Pascal compiler, (and in the case of Turbo51, FREE), there is a strong argument for educators to once again consider Pascal as the preferred teaching language. Unfortunately, many human beings are like sheep, they follow the crowd without reason. Some of us are very fortunate to be living in a country and society where we can express our opinion without fear and for those who disagree........well .... stiff! Igor, keep up the good work. Tony |
