The parts that you havent shown may be the ones that are causing the trouble. Another thing you need to evaluate : how often do you run this code? The EEPROM has a finite life (typically around 100,000 write cycles) and if you're running the code in a tight loop, you must have aged it by now. This statement can be true only if you are sure that the other parts of your code are not the source of your problem.
