After giving it some thought using this LED shunt is a bad idea because when I put 5 LEDs say in series, the Vf will add up to 15 VDC (assuming Vf is 3V for each Blue LED). Now if one LED pops up open circuit, its LED shunt will short circuit adding more voltage to be dissipated by the LED driver chip as dissipated power is Proportional to VDD - Summation of Vf.
So driver chip will get hotter and this will cause heating problems. If 2 LEDs go open at the same time the LED driver chip will catch fire! Mahmood |
