If you can not take what you have which is coded specifically for application a and modify it to be coded specifically for application b but have to have something that works in both cases what happened to your 'simplicity'?

PS YES, I believe in reuse of code but I do not believe in reusable code. If I have something similar to what I need in my files I take it and modify it to an exact application match rather than starting from scratch but "universally usable modules" are neither simple, efficient nor maintainable. Now someone might say "you do not need to maintain universal code" yeah, have heard that one before.

PPS If everything you make is "one off" and thus doubling the processor power and memory is a nominal part of product cost THEN, and only then, "universal modules" may have some benefits.
