#147714 - VMX1020 ICP Communications protocol |
Good day everyone !
This is my first post here. Hopefully we can cope with each other ;) I recently got 50 pcs of VMX1020 for FREE and some hardware as well as software with them. Also I got VRS1000, VRS540, VRS560 and VRS580 25 pcs each. I received the VERSAMCU-PPR which seems to be a parallel programmer BUT..... I do not like to do things in Windows. It seems like all tools in the CD:s which came along are Windows programs and I am all too used to work on Linux - and on VMS as needed. Someone might say that I am an oldschool coder who likes to operate on a TTY terminal instead of a graphical debugger. So true. I noticed that all the hardware is actually connected to the host PC using serial interface. It should not be too complicated to create a program that can read the binary and the upload it into the programmer. I could analyze the serial traffic but I am not willing to go through the PITA of reverse-engineering the protocol. I assume it is fairly simple and I also make the very wild assumption that someone reading this forum might have some information about it. Nowdays I usually do "things" with Atmel AVR microcontrollers but since I got these for a really affordable price I could as well try them out. Thanks in advance for the protocol spesification. |
