I have the DS1620 description (PDF) and some subroutines for exchange with AT89C52. The DS1620 converts a temperature in 9 bits with 0.5 degree resolution.

I prefer the low power digital temperature sensor AD7416 (10 bits with 0.25 degree resolution).
