#128145 - Yep, 680x chip.
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Yes, looking especially at the Vss, the pinouts are correct for a 6801 family MPU. I now have to build a board for it so I can socket it and dump the ROM. And I may even be able to make an HC11 board to socket into the 6801's spot on the mobo without it costing me too much. That'd be fun. :) And it would allow me to use the same board on a variety of ND ECUs, I'll bet.

I knew about the Ducatis using the HC11 for a long time. They now have a new Marelli ECU that is very small physically, and I'd love to crack one open at some point. I'd also like to get my hands on the interface/protocol for the flash-remappable units they used in Moto Guzzis and the Monsters for quite a while. The earlier boxes used outboard EPROMs for mapping, which has its conveniences. :)

Interesting info on the JECS boxes. Looks like they took the whole Bosch system and just made it under license; Bosch was the only company I know of who used PWM in their Tier 1 ECUs, and I believe they still do to this day for port injection vehicles. Lotta EMF interference from the square wave going to the injectors, but a good way to get low-impedance performance without needing huge heat sinks for your power transistors.

Thanks for our info, and I'll start scoping a circuit that'll let me boot the 6801 into a masked (E)EPROM on a development board.
