Can somebody comment on Infra Red receiving Sensor Modules as to how they work. What is their out put. What happens to the 40 ~ 50 kHz carrier that carries the actual code of the IR.

I beleive that the carrier is dicriminated by the sensor module and only the actual code in the form bits is given at the output.

All Gurus, please comment, I got to use them with 8051.

PS: These modules are small metallic boxes with three pins output.
