#115759 - How to Dewater PCBs ?
Hi dear members,
My friend's Flash based MP3-player were washed up in a washing machine. I tried to 'dewater' it by washing the PCB with No. 600 dry sprays ,waited for sometime and then powered the player on. everything were working for about 15 min. , suddenly after that time the player switched off and didn't powered up again and Washing the player with Ethanol didn't solved the problem. Checking the voltages it seems the DC/DC converter is okay and LCD also shows a slight difference in contrast demonstrating that the LCD powers up.

We've had a discussion about Dewatering when Bombay were flooded. In those post these materials were mentioned :
isopropylic alcohol
IPA
methyl hydrate
de watering fluids

Are these materials harmful for the PCB/Components/LCD ? should I float the player in one of these materials ?
After several times of washing the PCB , Still I can see some dirt (remaining after evaporation) on pins and there are BGAs on the board which make it harder to remove these dirts :(
- What do you suggest to remove them ?

I tried to search on the net for dewatering but unfortunately didn't found a suitable guide.

Best Regards :
Farshid
