#115713 - More on ICE
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Erik,

You said, "How is that bad, when the buying decision is "will this purchase save me more than the price". In that case, so what if you "become dependent."

I didn't say it was bad. I meant to imply that, like you, users become "attached" to their ICE, often to such extent that they can't do without them without considerable pain. That can be good and it can be a little limiting, but it's certainly not BAD.

ICE hardware, like lots of other hardware, can be a terrible disappointment. The seller seldom tells you what the flaws are, and, often enough, you don't recognize a shortcoming until you're required to work around it.

IF ICE hardware weren't useful, there wouldn't be so many "flavors" of it.

If ICE hardware were all equally useful to everyone, there woldn't be so many flavors of it. When I got my ICE-51, there was only one. It would seem that some types satisfy some users more than they satisfy others. I haven't dusted off my ICE-51 in over a decade.

What I mean is, "Caveat Emptor."
