if I help you, will you still be grateful to 'micro' ? you will be much better off if you get rid of the 8051 (if it is a 'basic' '51 many labelled '51 are 'expanded') and get a derivative with a T2. It can be done with T0 T1, just is easier with T2. Anyhow, you need to look in 'the bible' for T0, T1 and in the datasheet for T2 regarding external input to the timers and using the timers as counters. i have to transmit it serially by what means? to what?
