Basically i am designing a hardware for motor controlling product. It is MMI based. But i ma running short of Port Pins. so i have decided to multiplex 4 Keys with 4 Digit 7 Seg LED Display.
Can any body tell me whether this is a correct way? If yes, Please suggest me the possible technique. If No, then pl tell me another solution to this problem. I am having 10 port pins available with me.

As I have alrady said, its a motor driving circuit that is time dependent ac system. I have to monitor phaseseq, phase failure, overload, underload, SCR Short, SCR Open and many more.
So connecting display serially and refreshing it after say 3ms will it possible?
