The horse's mouth: http://www.irda.org/
The keyword you need for your googling is SIR - for "Serial Infrared" SIR is used for UART-style comms at moderate baud rates - up to 115k2. It works by sending a short pulse for a '0' and a long pulse for a '1' eg, see http://www.maxim-ic.com/appnotes....umber/3024 ACTiSYS, among others, have chips and adaptor cables for IR-enabling UART-based comms: http://www.actisys.com DIY: http://www.maxim-ic.com/appnotes....number/631 Note that Windows-2000 and later do not provide IR Virtual Com Ports - but see http://www.ircomm2k.de/english for a free download. |
