So, if we assume 7 bit addressing schemes, the first 4 bits would indiacate the type of peripheral (if i remember correctly for EERPROMS it is 1010 ); the remaining 3 bits are user dependent (as in one can connect appropriate logic at the pins provided) for determining the full fledged 7 bit address.
