#108137 - SiLabs Mistake Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Unfortunately, SiLabs web has little information on USB-serial application using 'F32x. Maybe because they are also selling USB-serial chips, CP210x.
I looked into this as well and I think SiLabs is making a big mistake by not offering the source for the CP210x. Even under NDA. We have successfully ported the Cypress serial-to-usb from it's intended purpose to one of our own based loosely on the Cypress reference design. 19,000 chips later I think I can say that Cypress is happy we did. I suspect that the CP210x is just a "regular" SiLabs chip w/ firmware. It would be nice if we could take that code and use it as a starting point for something. On the other hand ST Micro has done and published a CDC implementation for the USB thumb drive we were all discussing a few months back. Guess which chip we'll be using in our future product line?
