40x4 is not all that expensive (and it really looks cooler too)
the effort for a 4*40 is only 10% more than for a 1*16. in addition, as far as LCDs go the is no such thing as a 4 line display, what you have is 4 one line displays with some common stuff. Thus you can - if you can stand to look at it - treat a 4 line display as a 1 line display. So, you can develop code for using a 1 line display using a 4 line LCD. Erik ps "and it really looks cooler too" If you REALLY want it to look "cool" go for a VFD (vacuum fluorescent display) instead, for some the code is the same. I would use nothing else, but for cost constraints (they cost abt 50% more) see Noritake. |
