Probably not, unless you've programmed extensively before.
20+ years ago, the first edition of this book http://cm.bell-labs.com/cm/cs/cbook/ served me very well (and I'm sure the current one would do just as good a job. It contains zero information about any given architecture or compiler, it just tells about the language. You could also get a 'Dummies' book, I've found them to be very helpful for getting my feet wet in a new language (plus they're usually bundled with a compiler). Note though, that 8051 'C' books are going to assume 'C' knowledge already, and try to teach you the things you'll have to know about C on the 8051. This will probably be very specific to a particular compiler. |
