I am very new to microcontrollers in general and am busy with my first circuit and program (written in assembly language) for an AT89S8252. I have read the book written by Craig Steiner and it has been extremely useful.

My circuit is currently at a stage where I would like to program the MCU using ISP and my PC's parallel port. I have included the necessary bits and pieces of hardware for ISP in my circuit, but I am having a few 'technical difficulties'.

I have downloaded VISISP52 from this website. The download went smoothly and it installed without any issues. The problems come when I try to use this software. After the AT89S8252 has been selected in the drop-down menu, as soon as I click on 'Write', 'Read' or 'Clear', an error message comes up. It goes like this:

"Run-time error '453': Can't find DLL entry point SPIIO32 in visispio.dll".

This error occurs whether my circuit is connected to the PC or not. I thought it may have been the particular PC that I am using, so I tried the software on another PC, but I had exactly the same error. Both computers are running Windows XP.

Does anyone know what the problem may be? Any solutions?
