The old P1 must be using older windows 95/98 OS while the newer P4 running Windows NT/2000/XP/2003.
Direct port access in Windows is tricky, some work on Win95/98 but not on WinNT/2000/XP/2003. The programmer application you are using must be old (old P1 times) that HAS NOT been adapted for Windows NT/2000/XP/2003 systems. If it happens to use some direct I/O library like winio or inpout32 you might find an upgrade that should work by simply replacing the relevent DLL file with the newer one. Let us know the programmer name/make/model and the type of Windows you are running on either PCs. girish |
