Yes, they do require you to actually read the datasheet. So what? I have been using 8051-type controllers for ~15 years now and I still have to look things up, so for me it doesn't make any difference at all.
I use the F310 in a lot of my designs and have been doing so for quite some time now. In fact, I hardly use any other controller these days, apart fromn the F022 and F122, that is.
The only real problem I've had thusfar is when I forgot to put a resistor across the crystal in my very first design.

Erik, I do appreciate your point about the 'deviations', but I get really, really annoyed by your incessant whining (not warning) about it, even when it has nothing whatsoever to do with the original post.

Now give it a rest, will you?
