The standard answer is, you should avoid an RC-reset and use a proper reset/supervisor circuit such as TL7705, MAX 810, DS1232 and alike. The reason is,the RC reset works ONLY if you can garantee that the power source produces a single fast ramp-up. Many of the power sources don't. So it's better to stay at the safe side.
