And, unfortunately, the chip directories also suffer from slow upgrade, many errors, and lack of features that would make it usable
I honestly think that ANY chip directory will have defects, the only difference will be what the defects are. I have, basically abandoned all use of such, if I need 'x' and do not know what flavors of 'x' is available I browase the web and my distributors. For instance I use about 25.000 connectors/year for a given purpose and every distributor that visits get asked "do you have anything this "idiot resistant" at a better price" (my current choice is about $8/each). The trick is to be able to ask these questions BEFORE design start earnestly. My first prototype is made with connectors I have no intention of using, but that is not a problem. I know that there is a difference between a connector and a uC, but the methodology is the same. Erik |
